Mozambique Airlines postpones return to Europe via Lisbon

The airline Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) announced Tuesday that it will postpone the company’s return to European space, via Lisbon, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The impact of covid-19 on economies and, consequently, on traffic on this route, calls into question the data we have worked with in the past and which served as the basis for designing the operation. As soon as the conditions are communicated, LAM will resume the air link project between Maputo and Lisbon ”, guaranteed the company in a statement, stressing being“ aware of the importance and urgency of the reestablishment of this route that brings Mozambique and Portugal closer together ”.

It should be noted that the carrier from Mozambique last flew to Portugal in 2011, when Mozambique was banned from Europe. Now the flights will be carried out by an Airbus A340-200 aircraft, with 269 seats and more than 40 tons of cargo, which will connect the two capitals three times a week: with Maputo-Lisbon route on Monday, Wednesday and Friday , and Lisbon-Maputo on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
