According to a Monday update from its organising committee, most of the participants, around 3,500, will be volunteers. Free tickets for the trial competitions will be dished out to residents. The tests seek to evaluate competition management, scoring systems, logistics, hospitality, and security.
“Some tests have deliberately been scheduled to take place on the Macau Peninsula. We aim to attract visitors to the games there while encouraging them to sight-see and spend on the peninsula,” said Pun Weng Kun, director of the office responsible for preparations.
“There are also plans to organise additional events to enhance the National Games atmosphere across different districts of the city.” Macau will host competitions in table tennis, 3×3 basketball, 5-a-side basketball, women’s volleyball, and karate.
