The Office of the Secretary for Security, Wong Sio Chak, confirmed the possibility in a written reply to an inquiry from lawmaker Ngan Iek Hang concerning the optimisation of border crossing procedures.
According to the statement, security and border control authorities in Mainland China are studying the introduction of the system in the Passenger Inspection Hall of the Hengqin checkpoint. The goal is to streamline procedures and speed up the clearance process.
As part of broader efforts to enhance border efficiency, the office noted that 81 iris-scan e-channels are currently in use at six border checkpoints across the Macau SAR.
