Artificial Intelligence in Education – The Robot and I,” Organized by IPOR in partnership with the Consulate-General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong and title-sponsored by Galaxy Entertainment Group, will be held from April 4th to May 6th, 2025.

The festival focuses on engaging school-age children, parents, and community members through a range of multidisciplinary activities.

Based on the “three L’s” – língua, livro e leitura (language, books, and reading) – the event offers two distinct programs: one open to the public and another aimed at schools. Activities include music, performing arts, hands-on workshops, reading sessions, and innovative book launches.

This year’s theme addresses the role of emerging technologies in education, highlighting how artificial intelligence is reshaping teaching methods and everyday interactions. In today’s fast-evolving digital landscape, generative AI is increasingly influencing communication, creativity, and learning.

Reflecting UNESCO’s 2023 Guide for Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education and Research, the festival’s program is designed to raise awareness about both the opportunities and challenges of integrating AI into children’s education and social development. The event will inspire critical thinking and provide insights into the responsible use of technology.

Highlights include the bilingual book launch of Luísa Sobral’s latest work, “O Peso das Palavras,” accompanied by school workshops and a public concert on April 6th; the presentation of Joana Morgado Bento’s “A Semente do Amor,” which explores themes of positive parenting; and the launch of “Era Uma Vez… A Minha Língua” via an engaging shadow theater performance.

A special session will also celebrate the centenary of the first Portugal-Macao air trip with the presentation of “A Aventurosa Viagem do Pátria – de Portugal a Macau em plano (1924).”

Additional offerings include creative workshops led by Catarina Mesquita, meditation sessions with yoga instructor Ana Júlia Sampaio, and digital literacy training for educators and families presented by Adelina Moura.

A public conference on “AI in Education” is scheduled for April 16th, featuring experts who will explore both the potential and pitfalls of using AI in academic settings.

The festival further enriches its program with two innovative theatrical performances and after-dark storytelling sessions at “A Night at the… Library,” alongside an exhibition titled “The Robot and I” showcasing art from local creators and students.

Admission is free, with some activities requiring prior registration. For further details, please contact: [email protected].
