Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) participated as a Green Partner in the three-day “2025 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (MIECF) held in Macau.

By presenting its “Upcycled Waste Pavilion,” GEG demonstrated its commitment to the country’s dual carbon goals and Macau’s environmental policies.

The exhibition showcased a range of eco-friendly products, including items upcycled from recycled plastic, rPET recycled plastic products, and bamboo-packaged amenities, which under the innovative “Bamboo as a Substitute for Plastic” (BASP) initiative.

This initiative, now adopted in over 90% of GEG’s hotels, reflects the company’s drive to replace conventional plastics with sustainable alternatives.

As the first integrated tourism and leisure enterprise to implement the “Bamboo as a Substitute for Plastic” initiative, over 90% of GEG’s hotels have replaced plastic with bamboo amenities in the hotel rooms. GEG also embraced the concept of “replacing plastic with bamboo, turning waste into treasure” to its exhibition booth design, and showcased a series of upcycled eco-friendly products created for related initiatives and its hotel brands.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of GEG, toured the exhibition booth, emphasizing the company’s integrated approach to tourism and leisure, combined with sustainable practices.

GEG’s booth, designed with a “replacing plastic with bamboo, turning waste into treasure” concept and enhanced by 3D printing technology, earned the “Green Booth Award” from the Macau Fair & Trade Association and Macao Low Carbon Development Association for the third consecutive year.

In addition to the exhibition, GEG organized interactive sessions including the “Recycled Plastic Art Workshop” and participated in MIECF thematic business matching sessions to explore partnerships with quality green collaborators.

These sessions, hosted in collaboration with local environmental organization Green Future and featuring Galaxy Kidz’s Wavey, offered hands-on experiences on transforming waste into valuable eco-friendly accessories.

This initiative, part of the “Green Public Day” at MIECF, aimed to educate the public on recycling processes and the importance of environmental protection.

GEG specially invited the local environmental organization “Green Future” to host multiple “Recycled Plastic Art Workshops”, allowing participants to experience the “turning waste into treasure” process through professional guidance.

Furthermore, GEG’s ongoing environmental initiatives include participation in global campaigns such as “Earth Hour,” during which the company switched off all non-essential building exterior lights to support energy conservation and emission reduction.

The group’s commitment to sustainability is further highlighted by its record of holding the most EarthCheck certifications and the 2025 Forbes Responsible Hospitality VERIFIED™ Badges among Macau’s integrated resort operators.

Multiple hotel brands under GEG have also been recognized with accolades at the “Macau Green Hotel Awards.”

Looking ahead, GEG reaffirms its commitment to the philosophy of “what is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community.”

The company plans to expand its range of green corporate social responsibility initiatives, driving sustainable development and environmental protection efforts throughout Macau.
