The Nanfang Media Group has attached great importance to international communication. In 2021, it established news bureaus in Hong Kong and Macao, with a base in Hong Kong and coverage extending to Macao.

The group has continuously dispatched reporters to increase coverage of Macao and disseminate news to the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas. It has also collaborated with Macao media and received positive feedback.

Currently, the group is strengthening GDToday as its flagship media for international communication and building a more effective system.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to China, the 5th anniversary of the release of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

The GBA is drawing a new vision for a world-class Bay Area, with increasingly close economic, cultural, and personnel exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Macao.

“The establishment of the Macao News Bureau is timely,” Huang Can said in his speech. Huang continued his speech, saying that the Macao News Bureau should adhere to the practice of “One Country, Two Systems,” supporting the construction of the GBA and Guangdong-Macao cooperation.

It should provide more timely and vivid news about Macao while also conducting broader cooperation with Macao media to jointly tell the stories of China, the GBA, and Macao.

Lok Po said that unveiling the Nanfang Media Group’s Macao News Bureau marks a new stage in the cooperation between the Macao Daily News and the Nanfang Media Group. He looked forward to long-term and fruitful collaboration between the two parties and hoped to strengthen ties and communication.
