Under this initiative, Sands China will contribute HKD/MOP 2 for each Cotai Class passenger and HKD/MOP 3 for each Cotai First passenger who purchases or redeems ferry tickets on the first day of every month. The programme not only aims to offset the carbon emissions produced during their journeys, but also encourages passengers to participate in achieving a net-zero carbon footprint.
“Sands China is committed to developing and operating its business in a responsible manner, and we are proud that our Cotai Water Jet is the first ferry service operator in the Greater Bay Area to launch a carbon offset programme,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd. “We are also pleased that our Sands ECO360 Carbon Neutral Programme continues to raise public awareness of carbon neutrality while supporting the nation’s dual-carbon goals. The funds collected by Cotai Water Jet will support carbon offset projects in China and Southeast Asia, and we hope our passengers will join us to reduce carbon emissions and build an ideal place to live, work, and visit.”
The Sands ECO360 Carbon Neutral Programme was launched last year at Cotai Water Jet terminal ticketing counters in Hong Kong and Macao, allowing passengers to contribute an additional payment of HKD/MOP 2 or more, depending on their seating class, to offset the carbon emissions produced during their journey. The collected funds support diverse initiatives in Asia, focused on restoring grassland ecosystems and advancing renewable energy projects.
