Among them were more than 1,200 founding team members who joined the company before May 18, 2004, when Sands Macao was opened. They celebrated their milestones at dedicated recognition ceremonies at Sands China properties in April and May.

They were personally recognised by Sands China Ltd. Executive Vice Chairman Dr. Wilfred Wong and Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Grant Chum at the ceremonies, where they extended Sands China’s gratitude for their loyalty and continuous contributions to the development of the company.

Dr. Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd., expresses his gratitude to long-serving team members for their contributions to the company at an anniversary event April 22 at Sands Macao to celebrate team members’ service anniversaries.

“With Sands Macao celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, it is the perfect time to recognise our founding team members, without whom Sands Macao could not have become the instant success that it was,” said Dr. Wong. “What’s more, those founding team members have shown incredible loyalty and dedication in helping the company to grow into what it is today, all the while witnessing their own professional development within the company. Many of them have taken a journey from front-of-house team members to executive leadership positions today. We are incredibly proud of them and grateful for their invaluable contributions to the success of Sands China and the development of Macao into a world centre of tourism and leisure.”

Grant Chum, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd., expresses his gratitude to long-serving team members for their contributions to the company at an anniversary event April 22 at Sands Macao to celebrate team members’ service anniversaries.

“On behalf of the leadership team, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each and every long-serving team member,” Chum said. “In face of the opportunities and challenges throughout these years, they have all played an instrumental role in creating a culture of excellence, integrity and innovation, making a profound impact on our corporate culture and the community we serve. With our team members’ perseverance and determination, I am confident that we will celebrate more shared successes and achievements as we grow with Macao.”

At the special celebration for the founding team members, they were presented with a founder card, entitling them to lifelong Sands China benefits. Additionally, team members reaching their 20-year work anniversary received a special edition music box, special edition pin designed by a team member, commemorative certificate, and gift certificate for an anniversary meal. Inside the Bluetooth music box, a Londoner black cab and a gondola revolve around Sands China’s properties while the company’s 20th anniversary theme song “Seven Thousand Days” plays – produced by team members and titled by Dr. Wong himself.

The other long-serving team members reaching their milestones likewise received trophies, certificates, gift certificates for an anniversary meal, and other special gifts.

By the end of 2024, over 15,000 team members will have served Sands China for 10 years or more; among them, more than 6,600 and 1,500 will have worked at the company for more than 15 and 20 years, respectively. The 20 years between then and now have witnessed a significant growth in the percentage of local residents among Sands China’s management team members, soaring from 20 percent in 2004 to 92 percent currently. In addition, female team members account for 46 percent of the entire management team.
