The preparatory work for the project, including the preparation of the project and the launch of a public tender to carry out the work, is already underway, with the venue scheduled to come into operation in 2025.
The new space, located at the intersection of Avenida do Aeroporto and Rua de Ténis near the Grand Lisboa Palace, will have capacity for 50,000 spectators and will be used for large-scale outdoor shows.
The initiative is part of the development strategy for the adequate diversification of the “1+4” economy and aims to boost the sustainable and high-quality development of society, transforming Macau into a “city of shows”.
According to the Government, the construction of this venue will create the necessary conditions to attract world-class shows to Macau.
“In recent years, Macau has held several large-scale shows, both indoors and outdoors. With this new infrastructure, the city hopes to expand its offer of cultural and artistic events, enhancing its role as ‘A Base of Exchange and Cooperation for the Promotion of Multicultural Coexistence, with a Predominance of Chinese Culture’,” pointed out the Government.
