Gastronomic Festival kicks off today at Fisherman’s Wharf

Macao is hosting the International Festival of Gastronomic Cities for 10 consecutive days, from June 14 to 23. Around 100 food stalls are waiting for you at the Fisherman's Wharf, with flavors from the city, inland China and Asia.

Macao invited the Creative Cities of Gastronomy and they accepted. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, and the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) brought an unprecedented number of cities with renowned gastronomic culture to share with residents and visitors the best of their cuisine.

The Fisherman’s Dock, in the Macao, will be transformed into an Avenue of International Gastronomy for ten days, with representatives from six of China’s Creative Cities of Gastronomy (Chengdu, Shunde, Yangzhou, Huai’an, Chaozhou and Macao) and three from Asia (Thailand’s Phuket, Malaysia’s Kuching and the Philippines’ Iloilo), filling 100 food stalls on the Legend Boulevard and Roman Amphitheatre Square (see the event map).

The Fest promises typical and traditional experiences from these destinations, and more. The activities of the City of Gastronomy Showcase will ensure that you can learn and take these culinary techniques with you. Over the ten days, there will be around 60 culinary showcases, with renowned chefs from the Creative Cities of Gastronomy.

There will be dedicated areas where you can sit and eat in peace, music and shows in various areas of the Fishermen’s Wharf, as well as interactive programs to give you the best experience on your walk along the International Gastronomy Promenade. Know the schedule.

Gastronomic Forum

June 17th will be a special day. The International Gastronomy Forum will be at the Fishermen’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., sponsoring an in-depth dialogue between representatives of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, professionals from the food and beverage sector, and members of integrated resort and leisure companies.

Topics such as food health, the development of collaborative work and the potential of gastronomy for resilient tourism will be discussed. According to the MGTO, the Forum aims to consolidate a platform for interaction between the Cities of Gastronomy and the restaurant sector.
