Russia denounces attack on Black Sea Fleet and Crimea

The Ukrainian attack on the Black Sea Fleet and Crimea comes a day after Kiev damaged two Russian military ships in Sevastobol.

Russia on Thursday denounced a Ukrainian attack on the Black Sea Fleet and the annexed Crimean peninsula with naval drones and unmanned aerial vehicles, a day after Kiev damaged two Russian military ships in Sevastobol.

At around 02:00, the Ukrainian Armed Forces “attempted to attack the Black Sea Fleet patrol ship Sergey Kotov in the Black Sea with five unmanned naval vessels,” the Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement.

The department headed by Sergei Shoigu said that the attack was repelled and that the five vessels were destroyed by fire from the patrol ship’s guns.

Half an hour later, the Russian army “thwarted an attempt” by Kiev “to carry out a terrorist attack with drones” against Crimea, the statement added.
