Hotel room reservation prices are almost at the level of 2019, before the pandemic. The Macau Hoteliers Association expects visitors to peak at the end of the month with the Lunar Cake Festival holidays and the celebrations for the Implementation Day of the People’s Republic of China.
The association’s president, Lou Chi Leong, told Ou Mun that his optimism was justified by the fact that Chinese families traditionally get together for the Moon Festival, which could lead to them travelling to Macau in larger groups, especially between 30 September and 1 October.
However, Lou Chi Leong was also pleased that the volume of tourists on weekdays did not show a significant drop, contrary to what might have been expected after the summer.
