World wealth falls in 2022

Global wealth fell in 2022, for the first time in four years, to US$454 billion, penalized by the appreciation of the dollar and inflation, with 1% of the population concentrating almost 45% of wealth, according to Credit Suisse.

The bank’s annual report revealed that non-financial assets were the ones that responded best to pressure, namely the property market, which showed stable prices.

World wealth thus stood at US$454.4 billion in 2022. In the previous year, global wealth had risen by 9.8 percent.

In turn, inequality fell slightly, with 1 percent of the population accumulating 44.5 percent of wealth, and in 2021 this percentage was at 45 percent. This decline in world wealth was concentrated in North America and Europe.

In the opposite direction, in economies such as Brazil, Mexico, India and Russia, there was an increase in wealth.

The same report, which has been produced for 14 years by the beautiful bank, which is part of the Swiss UBS, also estimates that global wealth will grow by 38 percent over the next five years.
