China launches Communist Party indoctrination platform for journalists

Lusa

Chinese authorities have launched a new customized “training platform” to educate media professionals in the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) Marxist view of journalism and leadership concepts, local media reported.

According to several Chinese media, the application is entitled “Instituto Universitário da Casa dos Jornalistas” and was launched on June 30.

The platform, with more than 220 courses, focuses on transmitting the CCP’s press doctrine and monitoring the progress of journalists, as well as certifying training results.

Courses range from fundamental topics such as CCP control of the press and Xi Jinping’s leadership concepts to more practical aspects, including instructional videos by veteran CCP journalists on fundamental political concepts.

According to the China Media Project, an independent research program based in Taiwan, one of the main objectives of the application is to promote the training of “influential” journalists to work their personal influence on social networks, in order to “guide” public opinion. .

The project also emphasizes “political faith” in the CCP as the basis of ideological security and addresses the strategy for dealing with the battle of global public opinion on foreign platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

At the application’s launch ceremony on June 30, He Ping, president of the All-China Journalists Association (ACJA), said the platform will be crucial to “strengthen the backbone” of Chinese journalists and “arm” them. with the concepts of the Xi Jinping government.

The initiative illustrates the Chinese authorities’ effort to expand ideological control over the country’s media and public opinion.

Last May, the latest report on press freedom prepared by the non-governmental organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF), which ranked China 175th out of 180 countries, stated that the Asian giant “is carrying out a campaign of repression against journalism and the right to information around the world”.
