Successful seminar on Maritime Arbitration in Lusophony and the Maritime Silk Road

123 arbitrators, lawyers and law students from mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Norway, Netherlands, Mozambique, Portugal and the United Kingdom e registered for a Webiner pertaining to Maritime Arbitration in the Portuguese Speaking Countries and in the Maritime Silk Road Webinar.

Organized by the Associação Lusófona de Arbitragem e Mediação (ALAM) and Concórdia, with the collaboration of the Macau Academy of Alternative Dispute Resolution of the University of São José and CIETAK Hong Kong, the seminar was moderated by David Fong from Hong and had as speakers the arbitrators Cátia Fernandes (Portugal), José Gabriel Assis de Almeida (Brazil) and António Pedro Pinto Monteiro (Portugal), Eduardo Buisson Loureiro (Macau) and Dimétrio Manjate (Mozambique).

“With this seminar, ALAM intended to reinforce knowledge about maritime arbitration in the Portuguese Speaking Countries and its connection with the Maritime Silk Road of lawyers, arbitrators and jurists from Macau, mainland China and Portuguese-speaking countries. This participation and interest confirm Macao’s comparative advantages in terms of knowledge of the legal systems of China and Portuguese-speaking countries, including its promotion as one of the places of arbitration for the resolution of any disputes arising from trade between entrepreneurs from Portuguese-speaking countries. The Lusophone Association of Arbitration and Mediation will continue its work to further strengthen and expand its reach. ALAM would also like to thank all those registered for the enormous support they gave to the success of this initiative”, read in the statement.
