Paris Saint-Germain opened disciplinary proceedings against the Argentine ‘star’ Lionel Messi, who will be suspended because of a trip to Saudi Arabia without the consent of the French football champion, reported the AFP today.
“He cannot train, he cannot play and he is not paid for the time of the disciplinary process”, advanced to the French news agency (AFP) a source, who asked not to be identified, adding that Messi will be absent from the Parisians’ work during “ several days”.
Several French media, such as L’Equipe, point to a two-week suspension for the South American striker, who missed PSG training on Monday after Sunday’s defeat against Lorient in Ligue 1 ( 3-1), having been seen in Saudi Arabia, under a contract with the Tourism office of the country where the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr) works.
This disciplinary procedure comes at a decisive moment for Messi’s future at PSG, because, after an ‘off’ period in recent weeks on the pitch, he is at the end of his contract with the French capital club.
The 35-year-old world champion has scored 15 goals so far this season in Ligue 1, his second in Paris.
With five days to go before the end of the French League, PSG lead the competition, with 75 points, five more than Marseille, in second place.
