Ho Iat Seng awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique

The President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, decorated Ho Iat Seng with the Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique.

The decoration took place during an audience granted by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, who is visiting Portugal.

The Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique is intended to distinguish “whoever has provided relevant services to Portugal, in the country and abroad, as well as services in the expansion of Portuguese culture or for knowledge of Portugal, its history and the their values”.

Ho Iat Seng thanked the Portuguese president and underlined, in the moments of greetings that preceded the meeting, after which there were no statements to the press, that this was his first visit abroad after the Covid-19 pandemic and, although there were many proposals , “it had to be Portugal”.

It was at that moment that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa congratulated the Head of Government of Macau for the position he holds and wished him to be re-elected in 2024.

Yesterday started with a reception for Hot Iat Seng, at Lisbon City Hall. In his speech, the mayor of the municipality, Carlos Moedas, highlighted the technological development of Macau and the Greater Bay Area, underlining Lisbon’s position as a city dedicated to innovation and technology and the annual organization of the largest European event of its kind, the Web Summit .
