Rafael Leão has a contract until the summer of 2024, but the negotiations for renewal are stalled. Despite advances last winter, the Portuguese is still without signing a contract extension even though Milan have reached a commitment to pay €6 million a year to the creative, who is still asking for €7 million to renew.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the “main opponent” of the deal is Jorge Mendes, who shares the contractual process with French lawyer Tem Dimvula. The Italian newspaper writes that “Leão has been talking with Milan’s managers”, but that “Mendes has played a strategic role” and positively assesses the “free-form exit in 2024”. “Leão is less swift with the pen than with the ball,” the daily ends.
In Milan, at this stage, there is uncertainty regarding Leão and despite the satisfaction with the performance of the extreme, the fans themselves stress understand the sale of the player in the summer in order to avoid a free exit.
