Slovakia will send fighter jets to Ukraine. Kremlin says they will be destroyed

The Slovak government has approved the sending of Mig-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, Prime Minister Eduard Heger announced this Friday, thus intensifying military assistance to Kiev.

Reuters reports that the fleet of 11 MiG-29 planes was withdrawn last summer, with most of them not in operational condition.

Slovakia thus joins Poland, which this Thursday announced that it will send four Soviet-made Mig-29 fighters to Ukraine in the coming days.

“As a first step, we are going to send in the next few days (…) four fully operational aircraft to Ukraine,” Andrzej Duda told reporters, adding that other fighter jets needed to be checked and would be sent later.
