The authorities of the Chinese province of Shandong, in the east of the country, announced the discovery of an “unidentified flying object (UFO)” near the coast, as they prepare to shoot it down.
The said object was located in the waters of the Yellow Sea, near the coast of the city of Rizhao, according to a statement from the provincial maritime authorities, published by the Chinese state-run English-language newspaper Global Times.
The statement added that the Chinese Army was preparing to shoot down the object, which is why the authorities are asking fishermen in the region to adopt the necessary protection measures.
The announcement of the discovery of the UFO coincides with the so-called “balloon crisis”, started after the discovery of an alleged Chinese spy balloon over the territory of the United States, later shot down, followed by more sightings and a last one shot down today by Canada after having been referenced to fly over the country.
China claimed the first balloon was an atmospheric research instrument that went off course and accused the United States of disproportionate reaction.
