“Only renewable energy can safeguard our future, close the gap in energy access, stabilize prices and ensure energy security,” said António Guterres in the United Arab Emirates.
“With current policies, we are heading towards 2.8 degrees of global warming by the end of the century. The consequences will be devastating. Several parts of our planet will become uninhabitable. And for many, this is a death sentence,” added Guterres today.
According to United Nations data, renewable energies currently represent 30% of world electricity generation, a percentage that should double and exceed 60% by 2030.
