China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention will study the excess deaths and make these numbers public, given the suspicion that official data on Covid-19 do not reflect the magnitude of the pandemic in the country.
The Center’s main epidemiologist, Wu Zunyou, explained this Thursday that by introducing a new variable, it will be clarified whether the Chinese authorities have underestimated the scope of the health emergency.
Experts will calculate the difference between the total number of deaths and the number that would be expected in a context without a pandemic.
