Belarus accuses Ukraine of trying to drag NATO into war

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, today accused Ukraine of trying to drag NATO into the armed conflict in the country under any pretext, reported the official BELTA news agency.

“All security force agencies note an increase in the number of provocations near the country’s border. Ukraine is trying, under any pretext, to drag troops from NATO [North Atlantic Treaty Organization] member states into the conflict”, said Lukashenko at a meeting to analyze the political-military situation in Belarus.

In the opinion of the Belarusian President, Kiev’s attempt can be confirmed with the recent fall of a missile on Polish territory, which the West feared, first, that it was of Russian origin, which did not happen, having been determined that it treated you of a stray rocket launched by Ukrainian troops.

Lukashenko claimed that Belarus “has so far managed to prevent a potential adversary from using military force against the country”.

However, he called on Belarus’ defense bodies to “continue to constantly monitor” any indication of a possible “direct aggression” against the country.

The military offensive launched on February 24 by Russia in Ukraine has already caused the flight of more than 13 million people – more than six million internally displaced and more than 7.8 million to European countries -, according to the most recent data. of the UN, which classifies this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since the Second World War (1939-1945).

The Russian invasion – justified by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – was condemned by the international community in general, which has responded by sending arms to Ukraine and imposing it on Russia of political and economic sanctions.

The UN presented as confirmed since the beginning of the war 6,655 dead civilians and 10,368 wounded, underlining that these numbers are far below the real ones.
