Until the 20th of November, Cinema Alegria and the CUT space will host Kino Macao 2022, the festival that celebrates German cinema. This year’s edition shows a selection of films that portray the period of profound upheaval between the end of the 2nd World War and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The seventh edition of Kino Macao, the great festival of German cinema, started on Saturday, co-organized by the Audio-Visual Association CUT, in partnership with the Goethe Institut of Hong Kong, which will screen films by German authors until the 20th of November at the Cinema Alegria and in the CUT space, on the floor above Livraria Pin-to, on Rua de Coelho do Amaral.
“2022 is still a year full of challenges and uncertainties, and perhaps a look back is the best we can do right now. This year, the festival will present several films from one of the most important historical periods in Germany: between the end of the 2nd World War and the reunification of Germany. We suggest to the public a tour of this historical period through films that portray the daily lives of ordinary people and the circumstances of ‘special’ people, to see how the German people worked hard during a long and dark time. which is curated and coordinated by Rita Wong.
