Charles Leong Hon Chio will try to achieve a feat never achieved in sixty-eight editions of the Macau Grand Prix. The young driver from the territory will try to win this year the main event of the biggest sporting event in the Macao SAR for the third consecutive year
After winning in 2020 and 2021, two editions that, like this year, Formula 4 single-seaters were used in the main race, Charles Leong Hon Chio will bet on continuity and try to get his third consecutive victory in the race. This is despite the 21-year-old not driving a Formula 4 single-seater since his success last year in the corners and counter-curves of the Guia Circuit.
This season, Charles Leong has driven a much more powerful Ferrari 488 GT3, from the Chinese team Harmony Racing, in the Chinese Endurance Championship (CEC) and in the Chinese GT Championship, having added victories and very positive results for a young rookie in this category. In theory, it was speculated that the Macau driver would compete in front of his audience behind the wheel of one of these spectacular “Cavallino Rampante” brand cars, even considering that the Macau GT Cup budget is several times higher than necessary. to start with the Formula 4 single-seaters.
