Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson indicated yesterday that he will not be a candidate to succeed Liz Truss, leaving the way to favorite Rishi Sunak.
Johnson claims that he had the support of 102 fellow MPs, enough to qualify, but that he concludes that “you cannot govern effectively if you don’t have a united party in Parliament.”
In recent days, the British press has speculated about a possible return of Johnson to active politics and the Minister of Economy, Jacob Rees-Mogg, told the BBC today that “it is clear that he will run”.
