The Central Government is looking into support measures for Macau tourism, the Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council told a press conference, adding that measures are also being prepared to speed up the construction of the Guangdong-Macau Deepening Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
According to Radio Ou Mun Tin Toi, Huang Liuquan said the COVID-19 pandemic has had serious impacts on the economy and society in several countries, and also in the MSAR. He added that the pandemic has given all sectors of Macau society “a clearer understanding of the problems of the economic structure”.

The State Council official acknowledged that Macau has faced some difficulties and challenges in recent years because of the pandemic, but that economic development is still on track. He added that the Central Government has always attached great importance to and persistently promoted the moderate and diversified development of Macau’s economy. And that the Cooperation Project in the Hengqin area is producing phased results with many measures already announced.

The State Council’s Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office says it believes Macau will be able to build on its unique advantages and continue to develop the economy and improve people’s livelihoods.
