Importing single-use non-biodegradable plastic cutlery, such as spoons, forks and knives will no longer be possible starting from January 1, next year
Currently, there is already a ban on the import of disposable styrofoam boxes, bowls, cups and plates. According to the Environmental Protection Bureau, the ban on imports aims to reduce the Region’s use of plastics as part of the environmental protection efforts.
The bureau said that the import ban was decided after studying the experiences in other regions and consulting with the food and beverage industry.
