South African actress Charlbi Dean, the protagonist of the film that won the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, died this Monday at the age of 32 – “The Triangle of Sorrow”.
The model also died in a hospital in New York, in the United States, due to a “sudden and unexpected illness”, confirmed her agent. “It’s devastating,” a rep for the actress told AFP, without elaborating on the cause of death.
Charlbi Dean was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. As a child, she began to do some work as a model, with frequent appearances on magazine covers, and made her acting debut in 2010, with the comedy “Spud”.
