“The aforementioned order sets the maximum limit of the total number of all gaming tables and gaming machines for the new gaming exploitation concessions, which start from the beginning of next year”, reads the statement issued by the Cabinet. of Social Communication.
The statement indicates that the two numbers were chosen “taking into account the number of gaming tables and gaming machines currently operated in Macau” and “with the aim of guaranteeing the orderly and healthy development of the sector” in light of the revised version of the Law on Match.
The approved limits are in line with the reality of casinos throughout this year, but further from 2019, before the impact of the pandemic and the campaign against VIP gambling in the industry was felt. According to data from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Directorate, in the second quarter there were 6,006 tables in local casinos and 12,042 gaming machines. At the end of 2019, they operated 6,739 tables and 17,009 gaming machines.
Minimum limits
In another dispatch, published the same day, Ho Iat Seng defined the minimum income threshold for tables and machines. If the concessionaires do not reach this level, they have to make up the difference, a criterion also required by the new gambling law.
