Fire blows up Russian army ammunition depot in Crimea

In the statement, the ministry said that the fire that caused the explosion of the warehouse and whose causes are unknown occurred at 03:15 in a military unit located near the city of Maiskoe, in Crimea, a peninsula annexed in 2014 by Russia.

Crimea Governor Sergey Aksionov said two civilians were injured.

Russia launched a military offensive in Ukraine on February 24 that has killed more than 5,000 civilians, according to the UN, which warns that the real number is likely to be much higher.

The Russian military offensive has caused more than 16 million people to flee, of which more than 5.7 million have fled the country, according to the latest UN figures.
