Nottingham Forest wins Premier League 23 years later
Former champions Nottingham Forest achieved his first victory this Sunday on his return to the ‘elite’ of English football, 23 years after having been relegated by the division, beating West Ham 1-0 at home.
In the first round of the English League, the team lost away to Newcastle (2-0), but, at the City Ground, in Nottingham, a goal from Taiwo Awoniyi and ‘a lot of luck’ allowed the ‘reds’ their first triumph .
The Nigerian striker scored in first-half added time, becoming the first player to score for the Reds in LaLiga since Chris Bart-Williams’s goal in May 1999 in the Leicester triumph, but with the team already relegated. .
