The President of MPLA appealed Monday in Luanda to university students to mobilize, in the next few days, at least eight citizens to vote, on August 24, on number 8 of the ballot paper, which is the same as voting for MPLA and its candidate.
João Lourenço was speaking at the opening of the 18th edition of CANFEU, which is already, undoubtedly, a hallmark for Angola’s university community. To the thousands of young people that have been participating in this event of the university youth calendar, the MPLA leader said that CANFEU has been an opportunity for the promotion of solidarity, citizenship, scientific sharing and cultural and patriotic exaltation of Angolans.
The number 8 on the Ballot Paper said that MPLA very early embraced this initiative of the university students, because it has the notion that in a country as diverse, multicultural and with its own ambitions as Angola, it is essential the promotion of initiatives that increasingly unite Angolans, and CANFEU is a clear example.
The MPLA’s head of the list emphasized that this CANFEU takes place in a unique context for Angolans, who are preparing for the fifth general elections to be held on the 24th of this month, increasing the responsibility, commitment and engagement of the party in the continuous betting on quality education and in the service of peace and development.

According to João Lourenço, academic training, in general, is the key to empowering the Angolan man, it is the tool that best enables him to participate in a more qualitative and assertive way in the development process of the country and of humanity.
