Bolsonaro: we don’t need a “letter” to say we defend democracy

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said on Wednesday, in response to the manifesto in defense of democracy released the day before with signatures of personalities, businessmen and bankers, that he does not need a “cartinha” to say that he defends democracy, freedom and the Constitution.

“We live in a democratic country, we live in a democracy. We don’t need any ‘cartinha’ to say that we defend democracy, that we want more and more to fulfill and respect the Constitution. We don’t need support or signaling from anyone to show that our path is democracy, is freedom, is respect for the Constitution,” he said in a speech during the Progressistas convention, where he received the party’s support for his reelection campaign.
