French President Emmanuel Macron arrives in Bissau today for what will be the first official visit of a French head of state to the Portuguese-speaking country, a source in the Guinean government told Lusa.

According to the same source, Macron is scheduled to arrive in Bissau at 21:45 (one hour more in Lisbon).
The French head of state will be received at the Osvaldo Vieira Airport, in the Guinean capital, by his counterpart in Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

On Thursday morning, Macron and Embaló will preside over a meeting between the delegations of the two countries at the Presidency Palace. Afterwards, the French President will hold working meetings with the Guinean ministers of Foreign Affairs, Suzi Barbosa, Defense, Marciano Barbeiro, and Finance, Ilídio Vieira Té.
Macron is expected to leave Guinea-Bissau around 12:00 noon Thursday, returning to Paris at the end of a trip to Africa, which also included Cameroon and Benin.
