Forest fires have consumed 57,940 hectares this year, more than twice as much as in the whole of 2021, according to provisional data from the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF).

Provisional data collected until this Wednesday by ICNF show that there were 6,566 rural fires this year, which caused 57,940 hectares of burned area, 49% in forest stands, 38% in brush and 13% in agricultural area.
