John Bolton has argued that the attack on the Capitol was not a coup attempt by Trump, who was “just shifting from one idea to another”.
The former national security adviser during the administration of former President Donald Trump assured on Tuesday that he “participated in planning coups” outside the United States.
The statement was made on the CNN television channel, where he was commenting on the congressional committee hearings on the Capitol attack.

In response to the journalist’s statement that a person responsible for the Capitol attack did not have to be “brilliant to attempt a coup,” John Bolton responded in a natural tone: “I disagree. As someone who has helped plan coups, not here, but outside, it takes a lot of work.”
