Bolsonaro charges investigation into death of petista and blames left for violence

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) charged the investigation of the death of municipal guard Marcelo Arruda, murdered by gunfire by a Bolsonarist supporter in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), on Saturday night, 9, and further blamed the left for episodes of violence in the country.

“We reject any kind of support from those who practice violence against opponents. To this type of people, I ask that for consistency change sides and support the left, which accumulates an undeniable history of violent episodes,” Bolsonaro wrote in a message on Twitter, replicating a statement given by him in October 2018, during the presidential campaign, in light of the death of capoeira master Romualdo Rosário da Costa, known as Moa do Katendê, stabbed to death in Salvador.

“It is the side that stabs, that spits, that destroys property, that lets off a firecracker at a cameraman, that protects international terrorists, that dehumanizes people with labels and calls for fire on them, that invades farms and kills animals, that pushes a gentleman in a moving truck,” the president said on Sunday night, 10, after the PT pointed to the president’s speech as the cause of political intolerance in Foz do Iguaçu.
