Zelenskiy says Ukraine is in talks with Turkey and UN over grain exports

Ukraine is holding talks with Turkey and the United Nations (UN) to secure grain exports from Ukrainian ports, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Monday.

“Actually, talks are taking place now with Turkey and the UN (and) our representatives who are responsible for the safety of the grain coming out of our ports,” Zelenskiy said at a press conference alongside Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson.

“It is very important that someone guarantees the security of the ships for this or that country, with the exception of Russia, which we do not trust. So we need security for those ships that will come here to carry food”.

Zelenskiy said that Ukraine was working “directly” with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the issue and that the organization was “playing a leading role, not as a moderator”.
