CoolJazz Festival returns to Cascais starting Saturday after a two-year break

The CoolJazz festival returns to Cascais, starting Saturday and after a two-year hiatus forced by the covid-19 pandemic, with a lineup that includes John Legend, Paul Anka, Diana Krall, Miguel Araújo and Jorge Ben Jor.

“It is an emotion and relief [the return of the festival], because we have been all this time stopped and always doing something, we will finally make it and we are already quite close,” said, in statements to Lusa, the promoter Karla Campos, of Live Experiences. The start of the 17th edition of CoolJazz is scheduled for Saturday, with the American singer John Legend.

“John Legend has been with us since the 17th edition started being organized in 2019. He was the first artist we announced and that we have always managed to keep in the lineup. In the meantime, he has already released another album, a very danceable record, very joyful, very full of energy,” recalled Karla Campos. The musician edited in the summer of 2020 “Bigger Love”, about which he told Lusa in March of that year, to be the “most sensual” and “most danceable” he ever recorded.

Responsible for themes like “All of Me” and “Ordinary People”, John Legend released his debut album, “Get Lifted”, in 2003. This was followed by “Once Again” (2006), “Evolver” (2008), “Wake Up” with The Roots (2010), “Love in the future” (2013) and “Darkness and light” (2016).
