Firefighters find backpack with belongings of missing people in Amazonas

Firefighters found this Sunday (12) a backpack and personal belongings belonging to indigenist Bruno Pereira and journalist Dom Phillips, missing since June 5 in the Vale do Javari region (AM).

The material found was submerged in an area on the banks of the Itaquaí River, where the search for the two is concentrated.

On Sunday night, the Federal Police confirmed that the objects belong to Pereira and Phillips. The agency said in a statement that Pereira’s health card, flip-flops, pants and a pair of boots, also belonging to the indigenist, were found. Boots and a backpack of the British journalist were also found, as well as personal clothes.

Earlier, agents of the Amazonas Fire Department who participated in the search operation said that there was a notebook among the belongings found, but the PF statement does not mention this item.

Pereira and Phillips traveled along the Itaquaí River to the city on the day of the disappearance, but did not reach their destination.
