Benfica made official the transfer of Darwin to Liverpool in the early hours of Monday, for a value that could reach 100 million euros.
“Sport Lisboa e Benfica – Futebol, SAD informs, under the terms and for the purposes of article 248-A of the Securities Code, that it has reached an agreement with Liverpool FC for the sale of all the rights of the player. Darwin Nuñez, for the amount of € 75,000,000 (seventy-five million euros). ). It is further informed that the aforementioned agreement is subject to the signing of a sports employment contract between the player and Liverpool FC”, reads the statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
As O JOGO online reported on Sunday afternoon, on the side of Benfica, Rui Costa pushed for it to be closed for 80 million euros, with another 20 million in variables, seeking to achieve the objective of guaranteeing a cash inflow of 100 million, while Liverpool didn’t want to go beyond 65+35. In the end, both parties shook hands with an offer of 75 million plus 25 million in variables.
