Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng indicated today (Monday) that despite the on-going pandemic the 2021 Legislative Assembly elections will be carried out “successfully”.
The Electoral Affairs Commission for the 2021 AL elections has already been created, with his chairman, judge Tong Hio Fai, expressing previously that the pandemic was a great challenge for the organization of the elections.
Secretary for Administration and Justice André Cheong Weng Chon had also previously stated that due to the pandemic, authorities would create a Covid-19 contingency plan that could involve delaying the elections in a similar way to what happened with the Hong Kong LegCo elections.
