Governor refuses to answer whether she agrees with Nazi ideas and Holocaust denial

On the day she took over as acting governor of Santa Catarina, Daniela Reinehr avoided answering whether she agrees with neo-Nazi and denialist ideas about the Holocaust during World War II.

She was asked about the topic during her first press conference as governor, on Tuesday (27).

She took office after Governor Carlos Moisés (PSL) was temporarily removed while his impeachment proceedings are tried. If the score of the vote on the complaint is repeated in the special court, Moses may be acquitted and return to office. Reinehr had the complaint filed.

Reinehr had already been questioned by Folha, through her press office, about her opinion of Nazism, but she did not respond. The report tried to clarify whether she rejects the ideas of her father, Altair Reinehr, a history teacher. His father has written texts in which he relativizes Nazism during World War II (1939-1945).

A photograph of him, in front of the house where Adolf Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria, illustrated a text in which he complains that Hitler “not even allowed to remember admittedly positive works”, citing as an example the highways built by the Nazi regime and the supposed 90% popular approval that the dictator would enjoy.
