Mozambique is unaware of the wall plan on the South African border

The Mozambican authorities say they have not yet received official information from South Africa on the existence of a plan to build a wall on its common border.

Foreign Minister Verónica Macamo, quoted by the BBC, said over the weekend that she is only aware of what she saw in the news published in the media.

The land border between the two countries is approximately 490 kilometers (304 miles) long.

Verónica Macamo also said that the Mozambican authorities will discuss the matter with their South African counterparts as soon as an official communication is made.

It is recalled that according to some publications, the building of the wall has already started and is already eight kilometers long. The work will cost around five million euros.
