Brazil reaches 5.4 million cases and more than 157,000 deaths by Covid-19

On Monday (26), Brazil reached 5,411,550 cases of Covid-19 registered since the beginning of the pandemic. According to the press consortium this is an underestimated number. There’s been documentation of over 17,791 people with the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The country also recorded 288 deaths by Covid-19 and reached 157,451 deaths.

The values observed on weekends, Mondays and holidays are usually lower than other days because of delays in notification of health departments.

In addition to the daily data of the consortium, Folha also shows the so-called moving average. The statistical resource seeks to give a better view of the evolution of the disease, because it attenuates isolated numbers that run away from the pattern. The moving average is calculated by summing the result of the last seven days, dividing by seven.

According to the data collected until 8 pm, the average number of deaths in the last seven days is 461, which represents a scenario of a drop of 18% compared to the average of 14 days ago. Recently, the country came to be in a situation of a fall in the average, but then returned to the level of stability of the death data.
