USA-China: “Inaction is becoming unbearable and dangerous for Europe”

The United States of America and the European Union (EU) have launched mechanisms for dialogue to coordinate the response to China, but the European Council for External Relations believes that the EU must protect itself from the “economic aggression” of both powers

Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, yesterday announced the inauguration of a cooperation mechanism with the EU. “The EU High Representative, Josep Borrell, and I will launch the US-EU dialogue on China,” said Pompeo, reiterating that the commitment to “friends of the EU” is important, as “Europeans are also concerned about the environment that we live ”.

The head of the American diplomacy also announced that the first measure of the mechanism will be to create a database that gathers information that the EU and the United States have about China and then coordinate both responses.

The dialogue was agreed in June, when Borrell made the proposal during a meeting with EU and US foreign ministers. And Pompeo later announced that he agreed to the creation of such a mechanism.
