French football shaken by toxic culture accusations

Seen from the outside, the French football federation for two years represents the gold standard of its sport: champion of the men’s World Cup in Russia in 2018 and organizer of the most successful women’s World Cup in history, a year later.

But within the federation, current and former leaders say, this golden aura served to mask at least two years of serious discontent, which includes accusations of inappropriate behavior by officials towards employees of the organization, complaints of bullying against the federation’s director general. and complaints about a toxic culture in which men routinely use direct sexist language and make suggestive statements to women who work with them.
