A 89-year-old Dutch woman died after being reinfected by the new coronavirus. According to a report released by the University of Maastricht, the elderly woman was being treated for Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia, a rare cancer in B cells. The information is from G1.
During the first infection, the woman was taken to the hospital with a fever and a strong cough. After 59 days and after starting chemotherapy, the woman started to experience fever, cough and shortness of breath and Covid-19 infection was discovered again. The elderly woman died two weeks after feeling the symptoms.
This is not the first case of reinfection in the world. A study released last Monday (12) by the magazine “The Lancet” analyzed a case of a 25-year-old man who developed a more severe form of the disease in the second infection. Belgium, Holland, Hong Kong and Ecuador also presented cases.
