According to TDM Radio, tit is reported that the franchise of Air Macau will be extended for three years starting from November 9 this year.
An excerpt from the notarization contract signed by the Macau SAR Government and Qantas stated that if any new competitive operating system for air transport services emerges in Macau within the three-year extension of the grant, the renewal date for Air Macau will only be extended to the date that the new system take effect .
It was granted the franchise for air transport public services in 1995, and the contract is valid for 25 years. The SAR government notified Air Macau in October last year that after the expiry of the franchise contract this year, Qantas will no longer grant Qantas an exclusive franchise portion. Qantas Qantas will continue to provide flight services in Macau as an air operator.
The Director of the Civil Aviation Administration, Chen Yingxiong, once stated that Macau’s major aviation policies need to be authorized by the central government.
